Oreste Fernando Nannetti (NOF4)'s graffiti on Volterra's ex- sanitarium

Oreste Fernando Nannetti (1927- 1994) was recovered into several sanitariums since 1948.
In 1958 he was admitted into the terrible Volterra’s sanitarium, where he began to carve, with his “uniform“‘s buckles, the plastered walls of the building. One of the graffiti was originally 180 x 2 mt long and covered the pavilion’s perimetre; the other runned through a stair parapet and measured 102mt x 20cm.
The theme of the graffiti consists in stunning, mysterious, indecipherable  sci-fi narrations, which Oreste explained through the use of diagrams, alchemy symbols, drawings of animals and complex machinery.
Oreste could barely read and write, but shows an astonishing lucidity in his hallucinating work.

“10% deceduti per percosse magnetico-catodiche, 40% per malattie trasmesse, 50% per odio, mancanza di amore e affetto.”
[10% deceased because of cathode-magnetic blows, 40% because of transmitted deseases, 50% because of hatred, lack of love and affection]

Italian speakers and readers, go and google him! I’m so sorry there are no English sources.
